This policy says what Hangar Metric collects, why, who helps run it, and what you can do about it. In short: your records are used only to show them back to you, they're never sold, and you can download or delete them at any time.
What we collect
- Your account: your name and email address from Google sign-in, the account's name, time zone and home airport.
- What you add: logbook entries and imports, aircraft details and photos, expenses and fuel receipts, maintenance dates, oil analysis results, compression checks, engine monitor and flight recorder readings, partner names and shares, and for flight schools, schedules, accounting and people records from the sources you connect.
- Billing: your subscription's status and Stripe's customer reference. Stripe holds the card; we never see the full number.
- Technical: the sign-in session cookie that keeps you signed in, and error reports when something breaks (without your name, email or the content of your records).
There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no third-party analytics.
How it's used
- To show you your figures: currency, proficiency, costs, maintenance, reports and the rest of the app.
- To send the emails you ask for (weekly reminders, which you can turn off from any reminder or on Currency) and messages about your account and billing.
- To keep the service working and secure, and to fix problems.
Your records are never sold, never used for advertising, and never shown to other accounts.
AI reading
Some features use AI from Anthropic (the Claude models): reading a fuel receipt, an oil analysis report, a photo of a paper logbook page or a file you drop on the Overview, matching a file's columns, and explaining what the engine and flight watch found. Only what that feature needs is sent, when you ask for it. Anthropic processes it to return the answer and, under its commercial terms, doesn't use it to train its models. You always check the result before anything is saved.
Public data we look up for you
- Flight tracks: your aircraft's registration is looked up in the public adsb.lol ADS-B archive for the days you logged flights; only the points of your matched flights are kept with your logbook.
- Weather: airport identifiers are sent to the Iowa Environmental Mesonet and the Aviation Weather Center for the reports at your flights' times.
- Aircraft: registrations are checked against the FAA registry, and a photo may be fetched from Planespotters.net by registration.
Who helps run it
These services process data for Hangar Metric, each only for its part:
- Supabase: the database, file storage and sign-in.
- Vercel: hosting the website and app.
- Stripe: payments and subscriptions.
- Anthropic: the AI reading described above.
- Google: sign-in, and Google Sheets when a school connects one.
- Intuit: QuickBooks, when a school connects it.
- Resend: sending email.
- Sentry: error reports, without personal details.
We may disclose data if the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting it
- Your data is kept while your account is open.
- You can download all of it at any time from the Account page, and delete your account there, which removes its data.
- After a subscription ends, the account's data is kept for 90 days so you can come back, then deleted.
- Disconnecting QuickBooks or Google revokes our access to it at once.
Security
Every account's data is kept apart from every other's by the database itself. Connections are encrypted, and access tokens for connected services are stored encrypted. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we'll tell you promptly.
Your choices and rights
You can see, correct, download and delete your data in the app, turn reminder emails off, and disconnect any connected service. For anything else, including the rights your state's law gives you, email samuelmckinney358@gmail.com. Hangar Metric isn't meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes significantly, we'll email account owners before it applies. The date at the top shows the current version.
